vampire weekend is a great band. i saw them live last fall.

a man named tod brody took this picture in 1983:

vampire weekend bought it from him for 5,000 dollars when they found it on flickr.

one day, ann kirsten kennis' daughter came home with the new vampire weekend album "contra".
this was the cover:

kennis recognized it instantly. it was her.
she sued vampire weekend, tod brody, and xl recordings for using her picture without permission.
no one could ever find brody because he disappeared or something for awhile.

kennis dropped the lawsuit after vampire weekend paid her an undisclosed sum of money.
good old wikipedia says: "Kennis, XL Recordings and Vampire Weekend have continued to pursue their separate lawsuits against Brody, who has now been located and is currently representing himself after being dropped by his lawyers for non-payment."


what an idiot. cool though right? imagine finding a picture of yourself on an album cover years later!
